As a writer, director, and producer, Steele is an explorer of culture: social, sexual, even spiritual.
Steele was raised in South Carolina but has lived all over the United States, Europe, and Africa. He’s equal parts voyeur and provocateur, interested in the polished exteriors as much as unkempt interiors in his characters and storytelling.
Steele studied directing at the Florida State University College of Motion Picture Arts, where he received his Masters in Fine Arts. He seeks to create space for audiences to grapple with the perils of love, sex, and relationships in new ways.
As a Black voice in cinema, Steele's artistic curiosity leads him to find unique windows through which audiences can examine the Black experience.
